Police Catch Robbery Suspects Who Shot At Officer

Posted:

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Police have captured the robbery suspects who fired at a Franklin officer over the weekend. It all happened after a robbery at a convenience store Saturday night.

Police have not yet released the name of the suspects.

On Saturday night, Officer Jessica Sterling said the suspects fired at least half a dozen times at her as she pursued them on Interstate 65 in Williamson County toward Nashville.

Police said the men attacked and robbed a convenience store clerk before they fired shots at Sterling who was patrolling the Cool Springs area. Sterling heard the vehicle description and saw the Chevy Impala and when she arrived at the store. The robbers sped off.

Sterling ducked and slowed down to avoid getting hit as she chased the suspects on the interstate toward Nashville.

Franklin Police Chief Jackie Moore said she did the right thing.

"We did not want to incite any more shooting at that point, and obviously certain tactics come into play at that time, and she deployed them exactly right," Moore said.

Metro police found the abandoned vehicle Sunday. It now sits in the Franklin impound lot.

No one was hurt during the chase, but that's not true about the robbery. One of the suspects attacked the clerk and hit him over the head with the butt of a pistol
