Repeat Offender Of Week Program Launched In Nashville

Posted:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Metro police Friday started a new program Friday that highlights people who repeatedly commit crimes in the community.

The first person spotlighted in the Repeat Offender of the Week is Nicholas Capito, 23. Police said he is a car burglar who received a two-year sentence in 2007 for five auto burglary convictions.

Hermitage Precinct detectives identified him through his fingerprints as the man responsible for at least four car burglaries on Elm Hill Pike and Bell Road between Sept. 2 and Oct. 4, according to a Metro police news release.

The windows were smashed and valuables taken in each case.

Police are trying to find Capito, who lives on Denver Drive.

Anyone who sees Capito or knows whereabouts is urged to contact Hermitage Precinct investigations at 862-6993 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.

"Capito has obviously shunned rehabilitation and is continuing to seriously impact our community by making victims of random car owners," Metro Police Chief Ronal Serpas said in a news release.

"He is just one member of a convicted felon crowd that continues to regularly impact Nashville's crime picture by creating new victims, new police investigations, and new prosecutions," Serpas said.
