
Dr. Ralph E. Wesley received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville in 1972. He completed a Residency in eye surgery at the University of Kentucky Medical Center and received a fellowship to study ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at Emory University in Atlanta.
Dr. Wesley has held many academic posts. His currently Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, Meharry Medical College in Nashville. He has served as Clinical Instructor in Ophthalmology at Emory University. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Wesley served active duty as Captain in the U. S. Army from 1973-1975 as a battalion surgeon. He served in the U. S. Army Reserve for 20 years reaching the rank of Lt. Colonel.
His surgical career has led him to involvement with many distinguished organizations. He has served as President of the Nashville Academy of Ophthalmology and as President of the Tennessee Academy of Ophthalmology. He has been a delegate to the Board of Directors of the EAR Foundation of Nashville.
Dr. Wesley is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member and past president of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Medical Association, The American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, the Laser Institute of America, and the Tennessee Medical Association.
