Chijoke Ike
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Police have identified the man found shot to death in west Nashville on Tuesday morning.
Police said the body of 28-year-old Chijoke Ike was found in an overgrown area of a field on 33rd Avenue North at Felicia Street around 9:30 a.m. They had discovered his 2010 Chevrolet Impala parked nearby, and searched the field to find his body.
According to officials, Ike's family called police to report him as a missing person around 11 p.m. on Monday night. His family had not seen nor heard from him since last Wednesday.
Officials believe that Ike was likely fatally wounded during a confrontation stemming from a marijuana sale. Detectives from the Homicide/Cold Case Unit have been called out to investigate this case since Ike was initially reported as a missing person.
According to police, Ike was twice convicted of felony cocaine offenses in 2005 and 2007. He received three-year sentences for each conviction.
Detectives are pursuing strong leads as they work to identify the persons involved.
