COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - After months of scandal, the Upper Cumberland Development District could get a chance for a fresh start.

The UCDD board holds a special meeting Tuesday afternoon to pick a new executive director to lead the troubled agency.

It follows the resignation earlier this year of longtime director Wendy Askins.

A committee has narrowed the applicants down to five who will be interviewed by the full board.

That meeting is at 1 p.m. at the agency's offices in Cookeville, and it's open to the public.
