NASHVILLE, Tenn.- The Ryman Auditorium is known as the "mother church of country music", but on Thursday it welcomed one of the kings of 70s disco.

Barry Gibb joined Ricky Skaggs on stage Thursday night. Gibb wrote one of the songs on Skaggs' new album, called "Soldier's Son".

Gibb, one of the founding members of the Bee Gees, has a storied music career. He began performing with his brothers in the sixties, before recording numerous hits, culminating in the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack.

Gibb has also had some country hits as a songwriter, including "Islands in the Stream" which spent two weeks at number one on the country charts.

Barry Gibb will perform on his own Friday at the Grand Ole Opry.
