PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. - A tip led drug agents to a large meth lab in Putnam County, and the rescue of four children.
Police responded to a home on Maxwell Street in Baxter, where they found the lab with ammonia nitrate, gas generators, rock salt, and lithium batteries.
They also found an eight-year-old, a 13-year-old, a pregnant 16-year-old and an 11-month old baby living near the lab.
Baxter police chief Danny Holmes said the children had to be decontaminated after exposure to dangerous chemicals.
All the children were ok, and placed into DCS custody.
Four adults, the parents of the kids, were arrested and charged with manufacturing meth and child endangerment.
