CLEVELAND, Tenn. (AP) - The Bradley County sheriff said an autopsy shows that heat killed two young brothers who died last week.
A news release said criminal investigators continued to work the case Friday. The department released no other details or the preliminary autopsies on 5-year-old Leland Bates and 3-year-old River Bates.
Officials told the Cleveland Daily Banner that emergency crews responded June 28 to a call from the boy's mother, Tasha Moses, who reported a near drowning. But no pool or body of water was at the scene.
The younger boy was pronounced dead that day. The older child died later at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
