Man Charged With Beating, Robbery

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man has been arrested for allegedly beating and robbing a man in downtown Nashville.

Officers with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department arrested 21-year-old Santez Nelson for aggravated robbery.

According to a police report, the victim was at the corner of Charlotte Avenue and 6th Avenue when he was beaten and robbed around 11:10 a.m. Thursday.

The victim said he was first punched in the back of the head. When he turned around, he was struck again in his face and head with a metal pole, knocking him to the ground. That's when he was repeatedly kicked and punched.

The victim said that's when Nelson stole $300 cash from his left pocket.

According to the police report, Nelson didn't work alone but the second suspect has not been identified. At one point, the victim tried to run after his attackers but lost them.

Officers caught up with Nelson based on the description the victim was able to give.

Nelson was jailed on $75,000 bond.
