NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP/NewsChannel5) - Hot weather continues across Tennessee with heat advisories posted for the western half of the state as well as eight counties around Chattanooga.
The National Weather Service posted the advisory, which is already in effect for West Tennessee and takes effect at 1 p.m. CDT on Thursday for Middle Tennessee and the Chattanooga metro area.
Continued hot weather and increasing relative humidity will make air temperatures in the low 100s feel like 105 degrees or more on exposed skin.
Nashville experienced the hottest Fourth of July on record Wednesday, posting a temperature of 103 degrees - just a week after hitting an all-time record for 109 in Music City.
A front will move in by Sunday to Monday, increasing the chance for rain in parts of Middle Tennessee.
Knoxville and the Tri-Cities are expected to crest in the mid- to upper 90s through the weekend.
By early next week, high temperatures are expected to fall into the 80s and 90s statewide.
