AURORA, Ky. (AP) - A Kentucky Transportation Cabinet electrical crew has repaired navigation lights on a western Kentucky bridge that was closed for months after being hit by a cargo ship.
A boater reported Sunday that the lights were out on the bridge that connects Land Between the Lakes with Aurora on the western shore of Kentucky Lake. A state trooper confirmed the outage and alerted the Coast Guard.
The cabinet said breakers were thrown because of a short.
A 322-foot span of the bridge was knocked into the lake when it was hit in January. The bridge re-opened to traffic just in time for the Memorial Day weekend. Navigation lighting was part of the repair work.
Eggners Ferry Bridge carries more than 2,600 vehicles using U.S. 68 on an average day.
