HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn.- A Hendersonville man lied to police after a wreck on Vietnam Veterans Boulevard, saying the woman he was with ran away after the wreck.
The crash happened just after 7:30 p.m. between exits 7 and 8 on Highway 386. Eastbound lanes of Vietnam Veterans Boulevard were shut down while crews worked to clear the scene.
Police said that it was a single car wreck, in which the car left the roadway went down an embankment and turned over in a creek.
Officials said the male driver of the car told them that the woman he was with in the car had a head injury and wandered away from the scene of the accident. Officers brought out bloodhounds and called a Vanderbilt Emergency Medical Helicopter to be on stand-by.
About two hours after the crash, police were able to identified the supposed missing woman and discovered her alive and well at her home in Goodlettsville.
The man who lied to police was not identified. Police have not said if he will face charges.
Officials said that alcohol played a role in the crash.
