WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (AP) - Authorities said a 3-year-old Alabama girl has died after a truck crashed into a West Memphis funeral home where the child and her family were attending a visitation.
West Memphis Police Chief Donald Oakes said the girl died at a hospital after the Thursday night crash at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
Authorities said the driver may have suffered a medical condition that caused her to careen off the road and into the building. The police chief said investigators don't believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
Oakes told The Commercial Appeal the girl's 5-year-old sister and mother will be released from the hospital soon. A 54-year-old woman, also related to the family, is in critical condition.
Authorities have not released the family's names but said they are from Jasper, Alabama.
The driver was taken to Crittenden Regional Hospital in West Memphis.
