NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A sports testing lab named after Olympic legend Wilma Rudolph held its grand opening Friday in Nashville.
Mayor Karl Dean, Congresswoman Diane Black, and officials with Aegis Sciences Corp. were on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The facility, operated by Aegis, has forensics, life sciences and research and development labs. More than 200 jobs will be created by the business.
Rudolph, of Clarksville, overcame polio to win three gold medals at the 1960 Olympics in Rome while running for Tennessee A&I, now Tennessee State University. She died in 1994 in Nashville.
The lab's lobby features a life-sized bronze statue of Rudolph by Memphis artist Brian Law.
More than 200 jobs will be created by the facility.
