NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two people were critically injured after a tractor trailer explosion in Antioch early Monday morning.
It happened just before 4 a.m. at Southeastern Freight Lines on Murfreesboro Road.
Fire investigators said the workers were trying to move a damaged forklift out of the semi-truck with another forklift when sparks ignited from a possible leaking propane tank. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control quickly.
Neighbors said the explosion woke them up.
"I got up and I started looking out the window, and I saw the fire trucks and I heard the ambulances and the police cars. So I decided to come out and see what was going on, because I was a bit concerned," said Helleen Brown.
Two people were taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Officials said one person was inside the truck, and the other was outside. Both suffered second and third degree burns. No identities were released.
The cause of the explosion was under investigation by the fire marshal.
