FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) - The Department of Defense has announced four units, including two from Fort Campbell, that will deploy to Afghanistan this year.
The scheduled rotation announced Thursday includes more than 11,000 soldiers from the four units who will start deploying between spring and winter.
More than 3,000 soldiers from the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division based at Fort Riley, Kansas, will deploy in the spring.
More than 2,950 soldiers from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team and more than 2,580 soldiers from the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, both from the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, will deploy in the fall.
About 2,500 soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Division Combat Aviation Brigade based at Fort Stewart, Ga., are scheduled to deploy in the winter.
