KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Pat Summitt, Tennessee women's basketball coach emeritus, will receive the Tigrett Award November 10 in Jackson.
The award, first given in 2006, recognizes a Tennessean for contributions locally, nationally and abroad.
Summitt is the all-time winningest coach in college basketball and won eight NCAA titles. She has been diagnosed with early onset dementia, Alzheimer's type.
The award will be presented at the 23rd annual West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation's Charity Gala.
Summitt was one of 13 people presented the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Tuesday by President Barack Obama.
