NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A woman drowned during a late-night swim at an apartment swimming pool in Donelson.

Police were called to the Cedars at Elm Hill Apartments at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday. Police said 30-year-old Farhia Ahmed called her roommate and told her she was going to the pool.

Her roommate, 21-year-old Ayan Gedi, arrived a short time later and found Ahmed underwater and unresponsive.

Gedi called 911, and worked with others in the area to pull her out of the pool. Ahmed was taken to Summit Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

It does not appear that the pool was open at the time of the accident.

Police said no foul play was suspected based on the investigation so far.
