NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A young girl found at the bottom of a backyard swimming pool in Davidson County has succumbed to her injuries.

Officials said 4-year-old Keisha Jordan died Sunday afternoon. She was rushed to the hospital Saturday evening after being discovered by 10-year-old boy at the bottom of an in ground swimming pool at a home on Rocky Mountain Parkway in Antioch.

Neighbor and former firefighter Robert Bayless said he ran from about five houses away when he heard screaming. He was able to clear the girl's lungs, but was unable to establish a pulse before paramedics arrived.

Keisha was transported by ground to Monroe Carell Hr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt where doctors worked through the night.

Officers from the Metro Nashville Police Department also responded to the scene. Police tape was set up around the home.

It was unknown if there were any other people near the pool when the girl went under the water.

A press release issued by Metro police spokesperson Don Aaron's office said Keisha's death "appeared to be the result of an accident based on the Youth Services Division investigation thus far."
