COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – A man was charged with attempted murder after a knife fight at a Cookeville restaurant left a man critically injured.
It happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Dinner Bell Tavern on South Jefferson Avenue.
Police said 74-year-old Jerry Arnold Sams and 39-year-old Harold William Dunn Jr. had gotten into an altercation involving a pocket knife. Dunn suffered severe injures in his throat area, and was taken by air ambulance to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. He was listed in extremely critical condition.
Sams was transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center, and released on Thursday morning.
Upon his release, Sams was charged attempted second degree murder.
