NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The bicyclist killed in a crash in Lakewood Wednesday night has been identified.

Police said 31-year-old Michael Rivas died after being hit by a car on Hickory Boulevard at 28th Street around 9:30 p.m.

Police said Rivas was in the right lane when he was hit by a Subaru, driven by 23-year-old Brandon Williams. Rivas flipped over the car, and died on the scene.

Williams told police he never saw the bicyclist, and did not know what he had hit until he got out of his vehicle.

No charges have been filed at this time. Investigators will try to determine if Williams should have been able to seen the bicycle.

No alcohol was involved in the crash.

There were no bike lanes on the road, but police said drivers should keep at least three feet between their cars and bicyclists.

Old Hickory Boulevard was closed until 3 a.m. while police investigated the crash.
