Spectators Flock to Great Tennessee Air Show

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Thrill seekers got a chance to see some of the country's best aviation pilots in action Saturday.

The Blue Angels were in Smyrna as part of the Great Tennessee Air Show. The Blue Angels haven't been to the show in four years, so Saturday was a treat for those attending.

The pilots say they hope it not only gets people excited about the event, but maybe a career in aviation.

"Certainly the military and naval aviation was something that really captured my imagination as a young lad. I really didn't know it was going to be naval aviation until I was in High School and I saw a movie called "Top Gun" and that was it. I was hooked on carrier aviation and tactical flying and going to Top Gun and that was what kind of got me fired up about the Navy," said Capt. Greg McWherter, 2012 Blue Angels.

If you couldn't make it Saturday, there's still time. The airshow continues Sunday at 8:00 a.m.
