Traffic Advisory For Iroquois Steeplechase On Saturday
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The 71st annual Iroquois Steeplechase is expected to attract 25,000 spectators Saturday. Police said part of Old Hickory Boulevard will be closed and traffic is expected to be congested near Percy Warner Park for part of the day.
Parking for general admission will be on Highway 100, with shuttles to transport spectators to the event.
Old Hickory Boulevard will be closed to eastbound traffic at Vaughn Road beginning at 9 a.m. It will be re-opened from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. as needed to allow two-way traffic.
Starting at 4 p.m., Old Hickory Boulevard will be closed to westbound traffic at Hillsboro Road as well as southbound lanes from Highway 100.
Police will re-open the roads once the heaviest traffic clears out.
Police will also have a special shift of the department's DUI unit on duty to watch out for impaired drivers near the Park and west Nashville from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Officers on site will also enforce a zero tolerance policy for underage drinking.
