NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police have arrested a man accused of impersonating a police officer overnight and robbing a driver.
It happened on Plus Park Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. Monday. Nineteen-year-old Daniel Mejia told police that he was leaving work when he noticed a white pick-up with flashing blue lights behind him. Mejia pulled over and waited for what he thought was a police officer.
Mejia said that the impostor allegedly walked up to the car wearing a gold badge on his right hip. He then allegedly asked for Mejia's license, then grabbed his wallet and robbed him of approximately $200.
Mejia called Metro Police to report the incident.
Several hours later an officers spotted a white pick-up truck matching vehicle description given by Mejia near Murfreesboro Pike and Thompson Lane. When the officer pulled the vehicle over he discovered the driver, Christopher Rowlett, to be driving without a license.
Upon further investigation officers determined that Rowlett had a history of driving on a revoked license and not showing up for court. Rowlett was arrested and during a photo line up, Mejia was able to positively identified Rowlett as the man who pulled him over.
Rowlett was charged and booked into the Davidson County Jail.
