NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Nashville's newest park remained closed Monday after a child was injured while playing there over the weekend.
On Friday, police said that a juvenile was hurt after loose tile on the base of
the park's Cloud Bridge came loose. The nine-year-old boy had minor injuries to his
thumb and was taken to a hospital.
Work crews spent the day Monday at the park, checking all the slate tiles on the base of the cloud bridge
"One of those was the tile that flipped over and landed on the boys thumb Friday afternoon. So we've asked our contractor to come in and drill holes in each of the tiles so that they can insert a 3/4 " fastener through the tile into the concrete pillar -- so they can make sure all of the tiles are secured," said Mark Drury with Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency in Nashville.
A third party is also coming in to check all of the rock work and stone work as well as the tiles to make sure this doesn't happen again.
Officials with the city said they will wait for the contractor to complete all the work before reopening the park.
