NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- House Democrats are complaining that the Republican majority is moving too quickly through the legislative process.
Toward the end of the House floor session Monday, Democratic Rep. Jimmy Naifeh of Covington took exception to a Republican move to end debate over overhauling a judicial disciplinary panel.
Naifeh said the measure is a complex change, and lawmakers were unable to receive any details before the vote took place.
Republican Rep. Curry Todd of Collierville, who made the motion to head straight for a vote, said the final vote of 86-7 in favor of the bill showed that no debate was necessary.
House Democratic Caucus Chairman Mike Turner of Nashville said he'd heard the Senate wants to adjourn by April 17, but the House shouldn't be held to that timetable.
