GALLATIN, Tenn. – A woman has been charged with allegedly stealing money from an after school program where she worked.

Lisa Merryman was charged theft over $10,000. Gallatin Police said she worked with "Kidz Zone", a paid after school program offered to parents at Union Elementary School in Gallatin.

Police said a school district auditor caught some discrepancies, and further investigation showed that over $18,000 worth of Kidz Zone checks were deposited into Merryman's personal bank account between July 2011 and February 2012.

Officials said after being confronted about the stolen money, Merryman did not show back up for work. Gallatin police took over the investigation and Merryman turned herself in.

She was officially terminated from Kidz Zone on February 6.

Police said that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
