RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – Police have arrested six juveniles and are searching for one more in connection with the shooting of a 14-year-old boy near a Murfreesboro school.
The shooting happened around 5 p.m. Monday outside on the south side of the Cason Lane Academy campus.
Police said six juveniles, ages 13 to 15, were taken into custody Tuesday morning and are being questioned. The suspects all will have juvenile petitions taken out charging them in connection with the shooting.
Police are looking for a seventh suspect.
It was not clear if they have recovered a gun, or if they know yet who was the shooter.
Police believe the shooting stemmed from an argument near the basketball courts on school property.
The juveniles are not students at Cason Lane Academy, and police are looking into the possibility that it was gang related.
School was not in session when it happened, but there were some young children inside for the Extended School Program. None of them were hurt.
The 14-year-old who was shot is recovering from a minor wound to his leg.
