Missing Alzheimer's Patient Found In Lebanon

Posted: Updated:

LEBANON, Tenn. – An 80-year-old man suffering from Alzheimer's who drove away in a family member's car on Monday has been located.

James Thomas Hethcote was found safely within the county, and is doing alright, according to officials. There aren't many details, other than the search is off.

Hethcote's daughter, Lisa Marshall, had said that he should not be out alone in his condition and that it was unlikely that he would have been able to find his way back to his Lebanon home.

"He is just very confused. My mother has to help him with a lot of things – you know, a lot of daily care," said Marshall. "He is not able to do a lot of those things."

Hethcote is the son of Pearl Ethel Hethcote, a woman whose 1979 murder was solved just last week.

Family members tell us that he was distraught when the topic of his mom's death became news again. But they said that it is likely not the reason he left.
