NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Two Metro Police officers have submitted their resignations after drunk driving accidents.

Officials said that Officer Greg Blackburn and Officer Wesley Terry were involved in two separate drunk driving incidents. They both turned in resignations after serving 30-day suspensions without pay.

Police said that Officer Blackburn was arrested in December in Marion County, Tennessee after a Tennessee State Trooper found him seated behind the wheel of his SUV parked on the shoulder of I-24. The Trooper said Blackburn smelled of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated. He was immediately decommissioned by Metro Police after admitting to arrest the following day.

Officer Wesley Terry was also immediately decommissioned following his January 28 arrest. According to police a Metro Parks officer found him asleep behind the wheel of his personal vehicle on Briley Parkway.

"The conclusions of these administrative matters clearly reflect that the actions of these two men were absolutely inconsistent with the duties, responsibilities and expectations of Metropolitan Nashville police officers," Chief Steve Anderson said.

Officer Greg Blackburn had been with the Metro Police Department since 2008; Officer Terry since 2005.
