Worker Hurt After Underground Transformer Explodes Downtown

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police said a worker was injured after an underground transformer blew in Printers Alley in downtown Nashville.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. Thursday in Printers Alley. Metro Police dispatch said a Nashville Electric Service Breakers box exploded. The worker was hit with metal shards in his face and was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Church Street was blocked by first responders.
