NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A new report was released Wednesday that could help prevent disasters like 2010's historic flood.
The Army Corps of Engineers released their technical report on the flood, detailing exactly what happened. It covers several points including which areas flooded first and where fatalities occurred.
Although the report doesn't address what could have been done to prevent tragedy, these facts, used with other findings, can be lessons for the future.
"The reconnaissance studies we're doing right now on the Cumberland River will then let us know whether we have the information to do what we call a feasibility study that would then make recommendations. Once that feasibility's done, that could make recommendations to an alternation of how we operate the system," said Lt. Col. James Delapp with the Army Corps of Engineers.
