NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Nashville Predators have unveiled a simplified look for their primary logo and a new secondary logo designed to represent the state of Tennessee.
The saber-toothed tiger logo was reduced to just the teams primary three colors of white, blue and yellow. Most notable changes include the shading on the teeth and a gold band through the logo.
The team conducted a "lengthy process" with season ticket holders, focus groups and the Reebok NHL design team to design a more contemporary and aggressive look.
The new secondary logo was created in the shape of a guitar pick to honor Music City's cultural heritage. A gold circle with three blue stars represents the Tennessee state flag. Like the flag, the three stars signify East, Middle and West Tennessee.
The official logo launch will take place over the weekend at the NFL Draft in Minnesota. According to the Nashville Business Journal, the Predators will debut new away jerseys, as well. Team announcer Paul McCann reported on his blog the Preds would unveil a new home jersey at a "Skate of the Union" event in July.
The team wordmark and secondary "NP" mark were updated to match the look and feel of the new logos.
