NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A 19-year-old woman was shot to death in North Nashville. Police need help finding more witnesses and the person who pulled the trigger.

Jazma Jackson and some friends pulled up in front of a home in the 2500 block of Highland Trace Drive, and they stepped out of the car.

"As soon as she stepped out of the car she was shot. She was taken to a hospital where she passed away," said Metro police officer Russell Thompson.

Police are looking for witnesses who may have seen the April 29 shooting, so far people have told them they only heard the gun shot.

"At this point we don't know exactly where the shot came from. We're reaching out to the community - if anybody saw somebody in the woods firing a handgun. We're reaching out to the community to get some tips on exactly how this happened," said Thompson.

Investigators said the shooting could have even been an accident. In any case they need people -even the shooter to come forward.

"We don't even know if Ms. Jackson was the intended target. It could have been an accident. It could have been somebody just out shooting a gun and she was accidentally shot. If that's the case we need the person to come forward and tell us what happened," said Thompson.

If you have information that can help Metro Police solve the shooting death of Jazma Jackson call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.

You can also send a text to Crime Stoppers, begin the message with the word CASH and send the text to CRIMES.
