How does NewsChannel 5 WeatherCall work?
WeatherCall is a very precise storm warning service that uses your street address to alert you by phone or e-mail when your home is threatened by a tornado or other severe storm.

Those who live within the path of severe weather would get a call from Meteorologist Ron Howes warning them of imminent danger.
WeatherCall combines a new warning system used by the National Weather Service called Storm Based Warnings, which warns only for areas directly in the storm's path rather than for whole counties. This reduces the areal coverage of warning by as much as 75%, making them very accurate. This also means you'll have fewer interruptions for storms that don't hit your neighborhood. When the National Weather Service issues a warning, WeatherCall matches the warned area with your address. If your home is included, Chief Meteorologist Ron Howes will deliever the message directly to your phone at any time, day or night. You may register up to three phone numbers and even include your e-mail address if you desire.
