Associated Press Image(AP) NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Legal Aid Society reports calls in Tennessee have doubled during the first five months this year.
The organization reported Tuesday that it received almost 11,000 requests during the period.
Officials blamed unemployment and bankruptcy for the increase.
Managing attorney Lucinda Smith of the Nashville office said the client base has been hit hard by the economy.
The organization is the largest provider of free legal services in the state.
